For those of you who find it important to read reviews of toothpaste, well boy, do I have something great to tell you. This Crest toothpaste is like having a blinding beam of sunlight in your mouth. Have you seen that movie “Big Trouble In Little China” when the old Asian villain opens his mouth and a sinister spotlight comes spewing out? That’s pretty much what this is like. That’s right, when I used this stuff for the first time I nearly went blind from the luminous intensity that radiated back from my mirror. I immediately left my bathroom and just knew my life was about to change for the better.
I have an ant problem in my kitchen, so I sprinted to my refrigerator and carefully unhinged my jaw, making sure that my teeth were pointed in the arthropods’ direction. The insects instantaneously went up in a burst of flame when the glow from my incisors impacted their tiny little bodies. In ten seconds flat, I had turned into an exterminator. Cool!
I had a flight I had to catch late at night, so I brushed my teeth, hopped in the car, and realized that my headlights were out. A problem? Hah! I simply gritted my teeth, faced due north, and the Crest toothpaste did the rest. The shine from my teeth illuminated the entire road for three hundred yards in front me. Th only downside is that oncoming traffic was temporarily blinded and had to careen into a ditch to avoid the path of my tooth-ray. Still, only a minor downside there. Once I got to the airport, it was foggier than it had ever been. Flights were being delayed, and people were losing hope. I didn’t see this as a problem, but as an opportunity. I boldly strode onto the runway, kept my mouth firmly closed, waited for the next approaching aircraft, and lifted my lucky lips intermittently as to allow the luminescence of my dentada to boldly go where no tooth had gone before. Planes were landing safely, pilots were high-fiving me, stewardesses were sleeping with me (of course, they are blind now), and the entire city sang my praises.
Why? Because of Crest 3D White.
The only drawback to using this product is that I’m swallowing a hell of a lot of moths.

Toothpaste makers are always trying to sell you a new and improved product when in actuality there is nothing new or improved. This toothpaste claims a “patented enamel safe whitening ingredient”. Googling the patent number 6740311 reveals that it was filed in 2002 and describes “silica abrasives”. Other whitening toothpastes contain silica abrasive agents also so there is nothing new here.
PROS:
*Love the compact tube and large flip-off top which can stand on it’s head.
*Good minty flavor.
CONS:
*Very expensive. Keep in mind each tube is only 4 oz.
*Nothing different than other whitening toothpastes.
OVERALL:
The packaging is very nice which is mostly what you are paying for with this toothpaste.

As far as I am concerned, toothpaste is toothpaste. I buy toothpaste based on price, especially during sales, and with coupon availability. If, at a time when I need some, there is no sale at our local supermarkets or coupons available (a rare occurrence) or if we are on vacation, I always buy my toothpaste at a “dollar store,” with Dollar Tree being my favored such store – the brands they carry (Aim, Pepsodent, etc.) are made in USA or Canada [I avoid such products made anywhere else], are often ADA-approved, and, at 6 ounces or so for a dollar, the price can’t be beat.
But — as Amazon Vine was offering me a free tube and I can always use toothpaste, I thought, “why not order it?”
This Crest 3D White Vivid Toothpaste Radiant Mint, 4-Ounce Carton (Pack of 6) is a new formulation being offered by Crest. This brand has been around for years and years and has established a generally good reputation. During sales, I have often bought their various toothpastes and I have always been satisfied with them.
The tube itself is well-designed, being able to be stood on its end; the toothpaste will flow toward the cap for ease in squeezing out as much as is possible and, due to its shape, it takes up much less counter space than typical tubes.
I received my toothpaste this morning and I used it for the first time after lunch.
Now I have to mention that I do brush at least five times per day – upon awakening, after breakfast, after lunch, after dinner, and at bedtime – so I do not know it this tube will last the fourteen days in which it is claimed to noticeably whiten teeth.
If it does in fact last that long and if it does actually whiten my teeth as Procter & Gamble claims [please see first comment attached below], I shall report that in an update.
My first impression was that the color of the toothpaste was not especially appealing and I have used many other brands which had a more intense mint flavor. But that’s not to denigrate its taste which, after all, is a matter of personal preference and, in truth, cannot be the subject of a comment. Suffice it to say that I found the flavor and texture of the toothpaste to be fully acceptable and I suspect that the majority of users will agree with me on that point.
In other words, this toothpaste appears to be as good as any other on the market and I’m sure there will be many people who will enjoy it and will buy it in preference to all others. And, frankly, I like it! It’s a nice toothpaste!
That said, my initial comment still applies, at least for me: toothpaste is toothpaste. If its price is right when I need to buy toothpaste, I’ll buy this one; however, if, at the time when I need to buy some, another brand or type is offered at a better price (and is made by a reputable manufacturer), I’ll buy that one.
But that’s just me. The final choice, as always, is yours.

Update: March 9, 2010
Yesterday was the fourteenth day of use of this toothpaste (I finished the tube this morning) and neither my wife nor I see any difference in the “whiteness” of my teeth. Plus I took photographs of my face (including my teeth) “before” and “after” – both pictures were taken at the same time on their respective days, about 8:15 PM and under compact fluorescent illumination. The pictures also show no difference.
I should say that I neither smoke nor drink. Therefore I probably do not have the type of surface stains which might be helped by this toothpaste. Some other reviewers have noted that they DO see a difference and I do not doubt their reports.
But, for myself, this toothpaste is not worth the premium price charged (I just bought several tubes of Aim toothpaste, made by Church & Dwight, a reputable firm, and at Dollar Tree it was being sold as a “special” – two tubes in one package, one 6.0 oz. and the other 2.2 oz. – for $1.00! And this Aim toothpaste IS ADA-approved; this Crest one is NOT).
Some reviewers have stated that this toothpaste removes surface stains by being somewhat more abrasive than other brands. If that is indeed the case, then I certainly will have no further interest in this particular form of Crest; the LAST thing I need is more abrasiveness in my toothpaste! (If it’s true then that may be the reason that it is not ADA-approved.)
In conclusion I will state that, in my opinion, it is a nice toothpaste which seems to clean teeth well and has a pleasant taste. But at its relatively high price, and considering that it MAY be more abrasive than some, it is not for me.
Thank you for reading this review. I hope that, by giving you my own particular perspective, it is of some help to you.

I’m trusting Crest to give me a good functional toothpaste, and didn’t find any problems here. What’s cool — you might even say ‘minty cool’ — is that it is a fresh sky blue gel that Crest says will clean as good as those sometimes crunchy pastes. It really does feel fresh and smooth. Why not have something high-tech that is new looking, new feeling to help enjoy what is a sometimes boring utilitarian chore squeezed in — get it?!? — right before running off to work, out to dinner or heading to sleep? I liked it.

The flavor is great, and I can say that I have really noticed a difference in the color of my teeth since I started using this toothpaste. I am a tea drinker, and I can’t seem to give it up, so it is nice to have a product that is affordable and can whiten. I have tried $50 whitening kits that did not do such a good job, and professional whitening at the dentist’s costs several hundred dollars. There are tiny blue bits in this paste that appear slightly abrasive, and perhaps they do the job of whitening. I’m not sure if this comes in assorted flavors, but mine is “radiant mint”. One last comment- this new Crest makes the surface of my teeth feel quite smooth, which is very pleasant.
